YOGA & MEDITATION
Therapeutic
Yoga
One-to-one or small-group yoga prescribed for a specific condition, such as back pain, breathing difficulty, stress or stiffness, and adapted to your body and level. At Arogya Retreatt, Bahadurgarh.
01WHAT IT IS
Therapeutic yoga uses the tools of yoga, asana, breath, relaxation and awareness, as a prescription for a particular concern rather than as a general class. The teacher assesses how you move and breathe, understands what the practitioner has recommended, and builds a short sequence that you can do safely and repeat at home.
It is commonly prescribed for back and neck pain, stiffness after treatment courses, breathing difficulty, stress and sleep problems, digestive complaints and recovery of strength after illness. At Arogya Retreatt it is listed within both the Ayurvedic and yoga collections because it so often follows and extends the effect of a therapy course.

04WHAT TO EXPECT
Sessions are gentle, unhurried and built around you rather than a set routine. You will not be asked to do anything that hurts. The home practice is short, usually ten to twenty minutes, and is the part that produces lasting change.
This page is educational and describes the therapy as traditionally practised. It is not medical advice and does not replace consultation with a qualified practitioner. Suitability, preparation and duration are confirmed individually at Arogya Retreatt. Content reviewed September 2026.
05QUESTIONS
Common questions about Therapeutic Yoga.
Is therapeutic yoga different from a normal yoga class?
Yes. A class follows a general sequence for a group. Therapeutic yoga starts from your condition and builds a practice for it, usually one-to-one or in a very small group, with a home practice to continue.
I am not flexible at all. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Flexibility is a possible outcome, not a requirement. Every posture is adapted to what your body can do today.
How often should I practise?
A short daily home practice is ideal. Guided sessions at the centre are usually weekly, or daily during a residential stay.
