01WHAT IT IS

Su, hand, and jok, foot, in Korean

Sujok is a Korean system of point therapy based on the idea that the hands and feet contain a complete map of the body. A painful knee, a congested sinus or a tense shoulder has a corresponding point on the hand or foot, and stimulating that point is used to relieve the original complaint.

The stimulation is gentle: finger pressure, a blunt probe, tiny seeds or small magnets taped to the point for a few hours. Because it is non-invasive and works through the extremities, Sujok is suitable for guests who cannot receive direct therapy on the affected area, and it is easily taught for home use.

02HOW IT IS DONE AT AROGYA

  1. 01

Consultation identifies the concern and the corresponding points on the hands or feet.

  2. 02

The practitioner locates the tender correspondence points with a probe.

  3. 03

Points are stimulated with pressure for a set time, or seeds or magnets are fixed in place.

  4. 04

You are shown how to press the points yourself if home follow-up is advised.

  5. 05

Seeds or magnets are removed after the recommended period.

  • Supportive care for chronic complaints alongside other treatment
  • Guests who want a simple self-care technique to take home

  • Magnets are not used with pacemakers
  • Not a substitute for medical care of a serious condition

04WHAT TO EXPECT

The session is short and painless apart from a tenderness at the correspondence points, which usually eases as the point is worked. Relief may be noticed the same day. Seeds or magnets left in place are removed at the interval advised.

This page is educational and describes the therapy as traditionally practised. It is not medical advice and does not replace consultation with a qualified practitioner. Suitability, preparation and duration are confirmed individually at Arogya Retreatt. Content reviewed September 2026.

05QUESTIONS

Common questions about Sujok Therapy.

How can pressing my hand help my knee?

Sujok maps the whole body onto the hands and feet. Stimulating the point that corresponds to the knee is understood to send a regulating signal to the knee itself. Many guests find it effective, and it is harmless to try alongside other care.

What are the seeds for?

Small seeds such as black pepper or fenugreek are taped to a point so that it stays gently stimulated for several hours after the session.
