HEAT & PACK THERAPY
Mustard
Pack
A warming pack of mustard powder applied over the chest or a painful joint to draw circulation, loosen congestion and ease deep aches.
01WHAT IT IS
Mustard is a counter-irritant: applied to the skin it creates a spreading warmth that draws blood to the surface, relieving congestion and pain beneath. The naturopathic mustard pack mixes mustard powder with flour and warm water into a paste, spreads it in cloth and applies it over the chest for congestion, or over a joint or the lower back for deep-seated ache.
It is a strong application, timed carefully and checked frequently, and is not used on sensitive skin.
02HOW IT IS DONE AT AROGYA
- 01
Mustard paste is prepared and wrapped in cloth so it does not touch the skin directly.
- 02
The pack is applied to the region and covered.
- 03
The skin is checked every few minutes for redness.
- 04
The pack is removed, the skin washed and a light oil applied.

05QUESTIONS
Common questions about Mustard Pack.
Will it burn?
It should feel hot but not burn. The paste never touches skin directly, the time is limited and the therapist checks constantly. Say so at once if it feels too strong.
