Compresses
Cloth compresses at hot and cold temperatures applied to a region, singly or in alternation, to relieve pain, congestion and stiffness.
01WHAT IT IS
A compress is a folded cloth wrung out in water at a prescribed temperature and laid over a region of the body. Hot compresses relax muscles, ease cramps and draw circulation; cold compresses reduce heat and congestion. Alternated in cycles, they create a pumping action in the local circulation that naturopathy uses for chronic pain, stiffness and sluggish healing.
Compresses are simple to give, easy to teach for home use, and are often combined with packs and local steam.
