Yoga
Nidra
A guided practice of deep relaxation done lying down, rotating awareness through the body and breath. Used for insomnia, anxiety, exhaustion and recovery; often the most restful part of a stay.
01WHAT IT IS
योग निद्रा · Yogic sleep, conscious deep relaxation
In Yoga Nidra you lie still while the teacher guides your awareness through the body, the breath and simple images. The body sleeps while a thread of awareness remains, and the nervous system drops into a state of rest deeper than ordinary sleep often reaches. Thirty minutes is said to be as refreshing as several hours of sleep.
It is used for insomnia, anxiety, burnout and recovery from illness, and is placed in the late afternoon or evening of a program day.
