HYDROTHERAPY
Sponge
Bath
The body is sponged section by section with water at a prescribed temperature, then dried briskly. A gentle way to cool fever, refresh the frail, or calm the nervous system.
01WHAT IT IS
The sponge bath is hydrotherapy at its gentlest. Lying comfortably, you are sponged region by region with cool or tepid water, each section dried and covered before the next is uncovered. It cools and calms without the exertion of a full bath and is suitable for guests who are frail, elderly or unwell.
It is traditionally used to bring down mild fever, to refresh during hot weather and to soothe an over-stimulated nervous system.
